Are you having problems with your HP inkjet printer? You are not alone. Sometimes, like all electrical machines out there, your inkjet printer can go a little crazy. If your printer isn’t running with some sort of obvious error, you may not know exactly what to do to fix the situation. However, there is good news—you can run an HP test page to figure out exactly what the problem may be. To watch a descriptive video on how to run a self test page for the HP Deskjet D1500 specifically, go to Youtube.

So what all can a test page do? A test page will let you know whether or not your cartridges are in working order, as well as indicate some problems that may be occurring in the unit itself.

Here are some general instructions on performing a self-test page. This should work for most inkjet printers, but if for some reason your printer needs different instructions consult your manufacturer or take a look at your user’s manual.

First thing is first—click on your “Start” menu on the desktop of your printer.

Next, choose the “Settings” option and select “Printers.” Look on the list of printers that pop up. Once you find yours, right click on your printer. Another smaller menu should pop up automatically, but if it doesn’t, shut everything off and start from the beginning.

Now, find the “Properties” section. Put your mouse on the top of it, and then click on it. Once you are in the “Properties” section, you will see a lot of different options. You need to click on the one that says “Open Toolbox.”

The last thing you need to do is click on “Print a test page.” Once the page has printed, look over it and try to figure out what the problem could be. You can always do a search online if you find something out but do not know what to do with the info.
